Tea Filled Harbor
On December 16, 1773, colonists decided to fight back against the British by attacking their merchant ships in the Boston Harbor. The Sons of Liberty and a man named Samuel Adams got onto three British merchant ships that were carrying chests of taxed tea. These men stole the boxes of tea and threw it overboard. Overall, a total of 342 chests of tea were destroyed. This further caused tension between the colonies and the British.
